The series is often marketed as children's books but they are really for the whole family. I think if Allen listens to the first one he will be hooked.<br /><br />The first story, when Ralph is 9, is Little Britches: Father and I Were Ranchers. They are funny, tender, and wise, have incredible details about horse training and cow punching, and follow on through Ralph's early 20s, when he is a horse and cattle dealer. I love these stories and my husband has bought me one for Christmas for the past few years...
