I find it odd, in the year of 2010 to think about, but my husband is the grand son of a Civil War veteran.
Granddad, grandma, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, children and adults, Fay knows them all and makes history come alive among the stones of East Easton Cemetery.
I remember visiting this cemetary on a family vacation. The twins grave is still enough to make me cry.
ReplyDeleteYour Granddad still tears up when he talks about his twins. He took them to town to the hospital in the wagon in a box with jars of hot water to keep them warm. Now, they'd've made it no problem, but back then...
ReplyDeleteI wish you could have an explanation attached to each of the photos. I am left wondering. Who are the Richardsons? Which one is Grandpa's dad? Lots of family names like Herbert, Ernest. I remember visiting this graveyard when we went back. I remember putting little windmills on the twin's graves. Probably the same time Rachel is talking about.
ReplyDeleteYes, do tell! I remember this grave yard, too, and also the twin's graves. Thanks for posting these pictures. So interesting. So many died, so young. Sad.
ReplyDeleteWho they are, where they belong on the family tree, that's the book I'm working on this winter, with pics. Elaine did a lot, I've got a copy here and everyone is getting copies when I get the rest of the boxes of pics organized.
ReplyDeleteCome on over and your granddad can tell you who's who too.
