Reading

Fay doesn't read much, he prefers to be active. The only author he enjoys is Ben Green. For Christmas this year I found a copy of 'A Thousand Miles of Mustangin'. The only book by Ben Green that Fay didn't already own.
What I'll do for next year I don't know.

  2. I have heard Ben Green's books are wonderful -- thanks for the reminder to request them on interlibrary loan!

My friend Allen doesn't read at ALL and I've been thinking that I might get him the first book of the memoirs series by Ralph Moody, all about growing up on ranches with horses and cows from 1908-1920, as an audio book on CD. The series is often marketed as children's books but they are really for the whole family. I think if Allen listens to the first one he will be hooked.

The first story, when Ralph is 9, is Little Britches: Father and I Were Ranchers. They are funny, tender, and wise, have incredible details about horse training and cow punching, and follow on through Ralph's early 20s, when he is a horse and cattle dealer. I love these stories and my husband has bought me one for Christmas for the past few years... I've got all but 2 now.

If Fay hasn't read them he might enjoy them.
